C.J. Asher Interviews RIDDIC

riddic edit
DJ, former exotic dancer, photographer, club security and management, event promotions… is there anything RIDDIC hasn’t done?  Puerto Rico-born Ric “RIDDIC” Vale has been a staple of the East Coast adult entertainment and music scene for over a decade now.  His most recent project, East Coast Adult Entertainment, is dedicated to adult entertainment promotions in the Greater Philadelphia area.  RIDDIC was happy to sit down recently and share some of the awesome experiences from his work in the adult entertainment industry.

C.J. Asher – So, tell me a little bit about yourself.

RIDDIC – I ‘m 41 years old (but only 28 in RIDDIC years LOL!).  I was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.  Both of my parents are natives of Puerto Rico as well; we moved to the United States when I was only 3 months old so my family back home considers me the “gringo” of the family.
C.J. Asher – What was your main inspiration for becoming a musician?

RIDDIC – For as far back as I can remember music has been a part of my life.  Growing up I sang in my church choir, while my father was part of a three-man band.  Holidays in my Puerto Rican household were always filled with salsa and merengue dancing.  My grandmother was the person who taught me how to dance merengue; I struggled at a young age dancing to anything else, but I started watching MTV everyday (back in the day when they actually played music videos) and practiced doing what I saw on television in front of a mirror.  When I was about fifteen years old, I started going to an under 21 club where my dancing really started to take off.  I made some really good friends back then and found myself dancing all the time… at work, baseball fields and even on the football field.  Around that time, I got my first set of turntables to fulfill my obsession for learning to become a DJ.  I was fortunate enough to have my good friend Jerry show me the ropes.  I was asked to become a backup dancer and performed at a few gigs for my friend Mike’s freestyle group.

C.J. Asher – What artists or bands inspired you?

RIDDIC – Over the years I’ve looked up to artists such as Jam Master J, DJ 2 Tuff, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice and many more.  My recent motivation to return to DJing was to learn how to start producing from my good friend Tom Colontino.  Watching Tom’s career flourish has been a HUGE inspiration to my DJing education and training.  In addition, I can’t finish off without recognizing Alexander Adrock, Chris Costanzo, Jonathan Peters and Tiesto, whose talents continue to inspire my music to this day.
C.J. Asher – Tell me a bit about your work history and what led you to begin working in the adult entertainment industry.

RIDDIC – My work history starts when I was thirteen; I lied about my age so I could get a job as a dishwasher to help out my parents and also to buy some things for myself that my parents couldn’t afford such as nicer clothes and sneakers… you know, things that are important to a thirteen-year old.  When I was twenty two, I started working in security for the famous after-hours club Studio 6 in Atlantic City.  Since everyone in the entertainment business went there when they finished work, I quickly found myself mingling with some of the most important people in the Atlantic City night life industry at the time.  When my manager found out that I was a dancer, he brought me on as one of the club’s entertainment dancers.  This career move quickly led me into private exotic dancing, which I spend the next year and a half doing.  I must admit, the money was great and the women were very interesting and fun… the women definitely tried, and most of the time got away with, much more than if the roles were reversed and a female dancer was dancing for a guy.  I’ve had everything thrown at me:  oral sex, horny grandmothers, a smoking hot wife who wanted her husband to watch and even a mother and daughter at the same time, which is dirtier to me than the two sisters that were thrown at me! Currently, I’m a DJ and promotions manager for Club Champagne in West Deptford, New Jersey.  You can find me in the DJ booth four days a week, while the rest of my professional time is spent meeting with various gentlemen’s club owners, managers and dancers about providing promotional services through my company, East Coast Adult Entertainment.  My DJ services are also available for nightclubs as well as private parties throughout the Philadelphia area (
C.J. Asher – Tell me about East Coast Adult Entertainment… what made you decide to start the business?

RIDDIC – I was approached by a former business acquaintance about a partnership for gentlemen’s club promotions.  Although his plan needed some work and he didn’t have a car at the time, I jumped on board… even his girlfriend at the time didn’t know what we were up to!  Since I had my own vehicle and was much more of a people person, I quickly became the face of East Coast Adult Entertainment and grew my connections within the industry.  After a short two months I took over as owner of the business, mostly because my then-partner’s lack of professionalism resulted in me being the only person the club owners wanted to work with.  Currently, we’re expanding rapidly throughout the Greater Philadelphia area, developing good relationships with some of the best gentlemen’s clubs and working hard to meet their promotion needs.

C.J. Asher – How does East Coast Adult Entertainment assist the adult entertainment industry?

RIDDIC – Our goal at East Coast is to promote our client venues by not only working with them to increase their business through direct promotion consulting, but also helping out their dancing talent through such services as audition transportation as well as photo shoots for the dancers to promote both themselves and the clubs that they work at.  We also assist the dancers with expanding into the professional modeling industry.

C.J. Asher – What gentlemen’s clubs are you currently working with?

RIDDIC – Currently, we are affiliated with Club Champagne with DJ and promotional services, promotional services for Cheerleaders Philadelphia, Cheerleaders New Jersey, Vanity Grand Cabaret, Club Risqué Philadelphia, Platinum Playground, Volcanic Eruptions and we also work closely with Poisonous Pinups Magazine.

C.J. Asher – What advice do you have for anyone who is interested in working in the adult entertainment industry?

RIDDIC – For someone who is interested in getting into the industry as a dancer, the advice I would give would be to be respectful to your co-workers… (the DJ’s, bouncers, and other staff) work for tips, so be sure that they are taken care of.  For managers, the most important thing to do is to set a fair structure in place for dealing with employee issues and stick to it, even if you are tempted to show favoritism.  Furthermore, hiring a quality DJ that plays good music will only add to the enjoyment provided by the dancing talent.

C.J. Asher – What’s the best job that you’ve ever had in the adult entertainment industry?

RIDDIC – Hands down, the best job I’ve ever had in adult entertainment is that of being a photographer.  Being able to capture a woman’s best features, while at the same time making them feel better about themselves, is the best feeling in the world.

C.J. Asher – What would your dream job be?

RIDDIC – That’s a hard one… between my love for music and my love for sex, is a “DJing Porn Star” a job?
