Jessy Dubai is a multi-award winning transsexual adult film actress whose start as a webcam model at age eighteen has led her to become one of the most in-demand adult entertainment professionals today, working with such big studios as Deviant Entertainment, Evil Angel, Devil’s Film and many others. Jessy took some time out of her busy schedule to tell us a little about herself and her adult film experiences both in front of and behind the camera.
C.J. Asher – Jessy, thank you so much for this interview. How old are you and how long have you been an adult film performer?
Jessy Dubai – I am proud to say I am 25 years old, but as soon as I turn 26 I will keep saying I am 25, at least until I’m 30 (laughs). I have been an adult performer since I was 18, but I’ve only been in the porn industry for one and a half years.
C.J. Asher – You have some rather creative projects going on, such as being a burlesque dancer and costume designer. Tell me a little about them and what else you’re working on right now.
Jessy Dubai – Right now I am traveling around the United States helping friends come to terms with their sexuality as well as helping girls that want to be in the industry. I am also helping my sister Savannah Thorne with her career. I believe that by the time I am done with her, she will be prepared to take over my TS superstar status. By then we will already be mentoring the next TS super star. Just imagine my army of hot performers ready to attack the studios across the nation. It’s a win for all: I get to make a change, help girls in the process and bring quality performers to the industry.
C.J. Asher – Most people don’t know that being an adult film performer is really hard, physically demanding work! What do you do outside of the industry to relax, unwind and have fun?
Jessy Dubai – Well I think it’s impossible not to think about my job and relax when there is so much work for me to do. That’s why I mix pleasure with work. Every time I visit a new city, I always take two day off to relax, whether it’s checking the attractions around town, getting my nails done while talk with my girls or just sleeping until late and meditating to keep myself centered. It’s very important to me to unwind, especially with my mentor project. My girls need me with a clear head and no stress on my shoulders in order for me to be able to help them. I have to stay neutral to their problems, and not mix my emotions with theirs. It would be the blind leading the blind. Also, mentoring and giving advice to my girls is a great way for me to unwind; it’s very important to me because it helps me focus on others and forget about my stress. It gives me a perspective that I am blessed with what I have and that I have to be thankful and help others.
C.J. Asher – Adult films are made to look hot and sexy; how is the reality of filming an adult movie different from the perception that we see in the finished product?
Jessy Dubai – Well sweetie, just like mainstream television nothing that you see is real. Well, it is, but we just show you the best parts. My scenes usually take from three hours to six hours and we only use thirty to forty minutes of that. It takes so much work to film an triple x scene: memorizing your lines, familiarizing yourself with the character you are playing and following your director’s orders to the T. I am glad to have good directors that teach me so much every time I work with them, like Nica Noelle, Buddy Good, and Tom Cat. With every scene I make with them, I learn more about how hard it is to make a successful film.
C.J. Asher – What television shows are you into right now?
Jessy Dubai – I feel like my life is a sitcom itself (laughs), that’s why I will say my life. I feel as if my life was a mix of my favorite shows like How I Met Your Mother, with a hint of Modern Family (of course I play Sophia) with some sarcasm from Family Guy and American Dad. And now, I Am Cait is one of my favorites.
C.J. Asher – What are your favorite industry-related events, such as the Adult Entertainment Expo and feature performer appearances?
Jessy Dubai – All of them, at least the ones I have attended like AVN and XBIZ red carpets, conventions and award night are so much fun. The TEA awards was where I got my transsexual performer of the year award. Now that I am on my way to the NightMoves Awards, I am so excited to add it to the list.
Jessy Dubai – If you’d like to come into this world, beware that, just like in any industry, there are long hours of hard work. You need dedication, drive and always, always believe in yourself. When someone tells you that you can’t perform or that you can’t make it big, you prove them wrong. Remember that you are the only one who decides how far you make it. When one door closes, fucking kick it down and say “BITCHES HERE I AM AND I AM NOT MOVING.” Show off you talents, be friends with whomever you meet. Manage your own business and always stay humble. As you learn teach others not to make the same mistakes you made. You will make an aspiring model very happy. Accept constructive criticism but never let anyone change who you are, your essence. After all that is the only thing that really belong to us: who we are and what we can offer.
C.J. Asher – What’s the most stressful part of your job?
Jessy Dubai – When producers cancel scenes on me at the last minute. It stresses me and gets me furious, but I also understand that shit happens. That’s why I always have a “plan B” waiting.
C.J. Asher – How does competition between performers for parts in adult film productions impact how you get along with other adult film performers?
Jessy Dubai – It hasn’t affected me yet. I don’t take anyone’s job. In fact sometimes I am the one passing scenes to other models when I am out of town or have too much on my hands.
C.J. Asher – Are you friends with other performers in the industry?
Jessy Dubai – Yes, I am friends with everyone I work with, from agents to models, directors to assistants. I will always make friends everywhere I go. You get to the top by making friends that will help you, not enemies that will trash you.
C.J. Asher – What categories of porn, such as girl-on-girl, anal and BDSM, do you prefer working in?
Jessy Dubai – I am always up for a challenge, but my preferred ones are a guy and me, a gangbang with a bunch of guys, and some BDSM.
C.J. Asher – What adult film projects are you working on now and where can we see you in the near future?
Jessy Dubai – Right now I am traveling around the US helping girls with their transition, and even helping them to come into this industry if they like. But before I can send my girls to the rodeo I have to prepare them. I am tired of showing up to a scene and the performers are newbies and are not prepared. I understand it’s not their fault. They just simply have no one to help them or give them pointers. I’ve made mistakes that I don’t want other girls to make.
C.J. Asher – Conversely, what types of roles would you turn down?
Jessy Dubai – I don’t have any off the top of my head. Usually when I get a new role I take my time to give 110%. I think I do this in my personal life. I still haven’t had a role wild or hard enough that I will say, “Oh hell no.” I wonder what it would be though.
C.J. Asher – Caitlyn Jenner’s recent gender transition has been a huge topic in both the news and entertainment worlds lately and has raised a lot of discussion about transgender and transsexual acceptance. How has this impacted you personally as well as in the transsexual segment of adult film and entertainment?
Jessy Dubai –Well it has in a positive way. Cait’s coming out has brought a sense of hope that it’s never too late to own who you are. Fans and friends are coming to me for help on how to learn to be a woman and how to start the journey of living as a transsexual. I feel blessed that God made me strong enough to come out at the age that I did. Being a woman just came natural to me. I also understand how hard it can be to come out to your family at an older age. My dad is gay actually and he lives happily with his husband. But, this was hard for him to come to me with. It was hard for him to come to me, but once he did, it made it easier to tell everyone. Like he says, “If my daughters and my mother know and they love me, I don’t give a fuck what the world thinks… lol.” Watching my dad now and seeing how happy he is encourages me to spread the word that it’s never too soon or too late to accept yourself as who you really are. And that is what Cait brought and I think that has had a positive impact on the community.
C.J. Asher – Can you tell me one or two crazy stories or experiences you’ve had while working as an adult film performer?
Jessy Dubai – Hmmmm. Let’s see … Doing my showcase Jessy Dubai TS Super Star was a crazy and exciting experience. Spending time with all the boys behind the camera was as hot and fun as it was on camera. It was as fun as that time I did my gangbang. God I love gangbangs. That reminds me. I gotta do a new one this year.
C.J. Asher – How do you feel about various attempts at passing measures to make condom usage mandatory in adult films?
Jessy Dubai – First of all, I loved to see how united the industry got when we got attacked. But it also breaks my heart that, as performers, no one is going to tell me when should I use or not use a condom. I get tested every time I have to perform and I always use condoms in my personal life. I believe that if we were forced to use condoms, even in oral scenes, some studios and even performers would feel less of a need to keep up on testing. I think that we performer know better how to regulate our business and our health. How about make testing more affordable for performers? That would help the industry in a very positive way.
C.J. Asher – Who would you LOVE to film a scene with that you haven’t with yet?
Jessy Dubai – Too many names to list them all lol. Off the top of my head, I would love to do a scene with a hot female-to-male transsexual. Christian Wild is on my list too.
C.J. Asher – Tell me about your mentoring project to turn a brand new model into the next big transsexual star.
Jessy Dubai – Well I believe that we all have a limited period of fame and I want to use the fame that I have achieved so far to make a change to help others achieve what I had. To mentor and help the new minds of new performers. I am tired of showing up to a set and the performers are newbies and their managers or agents don’t prepare them. They show up to the studio without a clue of what’s going to happen. That’s where I step in and show them, step-by-step, what they should do in order to be prepared for a fun, stress free scene. We don’t need more performers in this industry. We need GOOD performers, prepared performers. The better the performance, the more in-demand you will be. Being pretty and having a hot body does not guaranty that you will make the cut.
C.J. Asher – Finally, what social media sites can your fans visit you at?
