The Low Down
Nothing says New Orleans like Bourbon Street, and nothing says high-quality gentlemen’s club entertainment like Rick’s Cabaret New Orleans. While only one of several of the big-name gentlemen’s club chains to inhabit the French Quarter, Rick’s Cabaret defines itself not only by its location and beautiful dancers, but also by its magnificent interior and quality service. I arrived at the club at 6:30pm on a Wednesday night; earlier than usual for one of my gentlemen’s clubs visits but necessary as I had a tight schedule for the 2015 Gentlemen’s Club Expo, which I was attending that week. I’ve rated the club on a scale of one to five stars, with five being the best possible rating. Before we get started, I did have the chance to review quite a number of gentlemen’s clubs during my trip to New Orleans, and there are a few things you should be aware of before you head out to the Bourbon Street gentlemen’s club scene:

New Orleans Club Rule #1: Stick With The Name Brands!
While the name brand clubs, such as Penthouse, Hustler and Déjà Vu, may be the more upscale and pricier options, the quality of your experience will usually be much better here than the little hole-in-the-wall clubs on Bourbon Street. The name brand club parent companies have put a ton of money into giving “Vegas-class style” to the older historic properties on Bourbon Street. Despite the name brand stigma, however, drink prices are usually the same and you can still enjoy yourself on a conservative budget.

New Orleans Club Rule #2: Be Careful On Bourbon Street!
While this could be said for any gentlemen’s club, be careful of your surrounding on your way to, while on and leaving Bourbon Street. With a high crime rate and excessive outside drinking, Bourbon Street can get a little sketchy, especially in the late evening, so it’s best not to wander around by yourself and arrange your transportation in advance.

IMG_1254Location & Facilities – 5 Stars
Rick’s Cabaret is located right on Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter, surrounded by a party atmosphere that you can’t find many other places in the country as well as some of the finest Cajun and Creole cuisine anywhere. Upon entering the club, which caters to a higher-end clientele but is still affordable for the average consumer, you’ll be greeted by a well-appointed interior which rivals some of the nicest gentlemen’s clubs that I’ve had the experience of touring. The first floor bar is fully stocked with plenty of beer and liquor choices along with a half dozen flat screens to enjoy your favorite sporting events. The two-story club features bars on both floors, a main stage on the first floor and private dance rooms and a pool table on the second floor.

Staff – 4.5 Stars
Upon arriving, I was greeted by floor manager Shawn, who gave me a tour of the club and, since the club was relatively empty in preparation to receive the late-night party crowd, allowed me to take the interior pictures that you’ll see in this review. Lee, the bartender on duty that early evening, not only provided great service but some enjoyable company prior to my tour of the club.

Food & Drink – 4.5 Stars
Rick’s Cabaret offers a fully-stocked bar with plenty of domestic and imported beer selections, such as Budweiser, Miller, Heineken, Guinness and Sam Adams. I enjoyed a $5.00 Malibu & pineapple juice as it was happy hour, which was a bargain compared to some of the $11 drinks that the Bourbon Street gentlemen’s clubs sell during the later evening hours. For more opportunities to imbibe, check out Rick’s Sporting Saloon located adjacent to the gentlemen’s club. The only downside to the club (and this goes for all of the Bourbon Street gentlemen’s clubs) is that food isn’t served, but with all of the local dining options a few feet away on Bourbon Street this definitely isn’t a problem.

IMG_1262Dancers – 4 Stars
The one major negative issue I had during my tour of the club was that there weren’t any dancers on duty when I arrived for my review, a major no-no as any gentlemen’s club should always have some dancing talent available when the doors are open. Considering that there weren’t any other customers at the time, it wasn’t during the later evening hours and that I had the chance to see some of the beautiful dancers during my brief stop into the club a couple of days prior, I guarantee that you’ll have some enjoyable and attractive dancer companionship during your trip to the club.

Value – 4 Stars
The prices at Rick’s Cabaret are about average for what you’ll find at any upscale gentlemen’s club, with floor dances for $20.00 a song, full contact dances upstairs for $60.00 a song and VIP/Champagne court options that range from $500.00 to $2,500.00. Cover is normally $10.00 but, if you go during the off-peak hours, you may be able to squeeze in for free.

Website & Social Media – 4.5 Stars
RicksCabaretNOLA.com features all of the information you’ll need to plan our visit to the club, such as directions, photos, bachelor party and special event packages and much more.

In Brief…
What sets Rick’s Cabaret apart from the many name-brand gentlemen’s clubs on Bourbon Street is its elegant interior and commitment to an upscale experience comparable to what you’ll find in the high-end clubs in Las Vegas and New York City. Whether you’re planning a business meeting in the Big Easy or the ultimate bachelor party experience, definitely check out Rick’s Cabaret New Orleans.
