C.J. Asher Interviews Derrick Pierce, Adult Film Star

Derrick-Pierce-Publicity-PR-2015-002Having received numerous nominations and awards, Derrick Pierce, “The Bad Boy of Adult,” is one of the hottest male actors in the adult film industry today. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Derrick about his professional experiences both in front of and behind the camera.

C.J. Asher – How long have you been an adult film actor? How did you first get into the adult film industry?

Derrick Pierce – At the time that I started, which was 9 years ago, I was making money and I wasn’t hurting… but I wasn’t making the money I could make in adult. The girl that I was dating at the time also started in adult and it was kind of a joint venture. The conversation was her saying, ‘Well, you need to learn how to shoot. How to hold camera and how to work the lights!’ But that’s not something you can just walk on a set and learn how to do. People kept asking if I was talent and I told them that I’m the pervert that watches this stuff. And so she and I spoke about it on a couple of other occasions and she basically said that if I don’t have sex with other women for money that I’m crazy. After a few months of talking about it and seeing what the numbers looked like, she asked if I could do it. ‘Well, shit, I don’t know. I think so.’ So she said, if I can get hired, try it and see how it goes. I basically lied my way onto my first porn shoot and I’ve been in it ever since.

C.J. Asher – How did you choose your stage name?

Derrick Pierce – I wanted something that was strong and straight forward. I had nipple and tongue piercings at the time, so that’s where Pierce came from, and Derrick was an ex-girlfriend’s suggestion.

C.J. Asher – What has earned you the nickname “The Bad Boy of Adult”?

Derrick Pierce – It came out in a couple write-ups and then I got to thinking… “Bald, tatts, gear head, motorcycles, fashion forward, single, had scrapes with the law in the past… yup, the name fits.”

derrickpierce_adriannaluna_tuffloveC.J. Asher – Most people don’t know that being an adult film actor is really hard, physically demanding work!  What do you do outside of the industry to relax, unwind and have fun?

Derrick Pierce – I kinda geek out on video games (Black Ops and Assassin’s Creed are my go to games), and riding motorcycles, and… shopping. Yes, I realize the last one is a bit, odd but I like it!

C.J. Asher – Adult films are made to look hot and sexy; how is the reality of filming an adult movie different from the perception that we see in the finished product?

Derrick Pierce – At the end of the day it’s fantasy anyway, right? It’s about the end user’s experience and not so much mine as a performer. What you guys see is visually amazing sex, maybe an outdoor scene under the moon and stars in a picturesque forest. What you don’t see is that it’s thirty five degrees out and both performers are freezing their asses off and it’s 2 AM and we’ve been on set for ten hours. What you don’t see won’t hurt ya though, so enjoy because we worked hard to create that fantasy for you!

C.J. Asher – What television shows are you into right now?

Derrick Pierce – Hands down, House of Cards. WOW

Magic_Mike_XXXL_DerrickPierce_(3)C.J. Asher – Have you received any feedback from Channing Tatum in regards to your portrayal of him in the Magic Mike XXXL parody?

Derrick Pierce – I did actually. It was via some back channels, but from what I understand he was very amused and thought it was really good. I hear he has a great sense of humor.

C.J. Asher – What are your favorite industry-related events, such as the Adult Entertainment Expo and gentlemen’s club appearances?

Derrick Pierce – Well AVN is definitely the pinnacle of events for us, but XBIZ is great because it’s a quality show as well, just in a different format, and it’s local, so that’s always nice. I like the online inked awards too.

C.J. Asher – What advice would you give to someone who wants to become an adult film actor?

Derrick Pierce – Don’t. This business is a tough gig. It’s long hours and riddled with rejection. Thick skin isn’t a suggestion but a prerequisite. It’s all self-promotion as well. Agents do a little bit, but not much. It’s all about what YOU do for yourself.

C.J. Asher – Besides the money, of course, what’s your favorite part about being an adult film actor?

Derrick Pierce – I enjoy the actual movie making process so, while the money is a factor, it’s not my main one. If I like the project, I’m all in even if the money is a bit low. And it actually gives me the opportunity to get to know someone OUTSIDE of sexual contact. Since I have sex for a living, it’s ok if we skip it from time to time and focus on real conversation.

C.J. Asher – What’s the most stressful part of your job?

Derrick Pierce – The hustle. Most people know they have a job on Monday. Any day I’m not shooting, technically I’m unemployed.

Derrick_Pierce_Battle_Bang_001C.J. Asher – How does competition between actors for parts in adult film productions impact how you get along with other adult film actors?  Are you friends with other actors in the industry?

Derrick Pierce – On the male side, I don’t feel too much competition between us. We all know each other fairly well and get along for the most part.

C.J. Asher – How has being an adult film actor impacted your personal and professional life?  Do family and friends know you’re an adult film actor and what do they think about it?

Derrick Pierce – Well it definitely makes for interesting table talk on a first date. Most everyone I know is aware of what I do for a living, but it’s not my only direction of travel in regards to my endeavors.

C.J. Asher – What do you see yourself doing after you retire from acting?

Derrick Pierce – I am involved is some small real estate ventures in addition to opening an indoor bootcamp/gym facility here locally. I love fitness and helping people lead a healthy life style.

C.J. Asher – What nominations and awards have you received?

Derrick Pierce – Honestly, I’m not sure. It’s a long list.

C.J. Asher – Tell me about your website,

Derrick Pierce – It’s pretty straight forward. It’s a site dedicated to what it’s like when we fuck “off camera,” except I run around with a go pro and film it.

C.J. Asher – Do you feel that, as a man, working as an adult film actor is empowering or exploiting?

Derrick Pierce – I feel that sword cuts both ways. It has its moments of empowerment and exploitation almost simultaneously. We are hired for the opportunity to be watched and ogled in a particular setting, but we choose the method of activity and retain the option to say “no.”

Derrick_Pierce_Shirt_TieC.J. Asher – What types of roles would you turn down?

Derrick Pierce – I do everything except for gangbang stuff. That’s just too many penises floating around me. Not very comfortable in my opinion.

C.J. Asher – How do you feel about various attempts at passing measures to make condom usage mandatory in adult films?

Derrick Pierce – I feel that once you start trying to legislate things of this nature, you are infringing on a citizen’s rights to privacy and choice. It’s not OSHA’s place to try to regulate my sexual practices. If that’s the case, then everyone should be held to the same standard. Not just performers. Of course that wouldn’t be possible, because it’s ridiculous, much like the “law” that is trying to be passed.

C.J. Asher – Who would you LOVE to film a scene with that you haven’t with yet?

Derrick Pierce – Abella Danger. We have known each other for some time now but never worked together.

C.J. Asher – What social media sites can your fans visit you at?

Derrick Pierce – The best way is Instagram. It’s DerrickPierce. I update from there for everything so that’s the easiest way to find me.
