Los Angeles, CA – Wicked Pictures contract star and emerging sex educator jessica drake is encouraging industry members to join her and TEAM WICKED on October 23 at the annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, which she will lead for the fifth time.
A fixture at the annual fundraiser, TEAM WICKED raised $15,416 last year, for a total of nearly $70,000 over the last four years for the event benefiting AIDS charities.
“Once again, I am SO excited about TEAM WICKED and AIDS Walk Los Angeles and all the support we’ve been getting,” drake said. “Every year, TEAM WICKED is one of the top fundraising teams, and we really want to keep that going. This year, we’ll also be utilizing our platform and high visibility to increase voter awareness in an effort to defeat Prop 60. Our team t-shirts, banners, and signs will say #NoProp60, and I’m asking everyone in the industry to support us and join in our effort to raise money for a cause that is very dear to our hearts and at the same time, help us educate voters. Also, as some of you may know, this is how I celebrate my birthday every year, so please join me after we cross the finish line for a champagne brunch!”
This year, TEAM WICKED aims to raise $20,000 and so far has raised $5,500 or 28 percent of that goal, making it second among all teams participating. Drake herself has raised $2,800 to the effort for fifth place among individual donors. Those interested in donating may visit TEAM WICKED’s AIDS Walk L.A. web page by clicking here.
“We’re thrilled to see jessica once again lead TEAM WICKED and bring together so many amazing and generous people under one banner,” said Wicked owner Steve Orenstein. “While it is still early, it seems this year both the size of the team and money raised will be higher than ever. This is a great cause and whether through TEAM WICKED or elsewhere, we encourage everyone to support it.”
In addition to jessica drake, TEAM WICKED includes Asa Akira, Ryan Driller, Tyler Nixon and many others. Adult industry performers and members may join TEAM WICKED by clicking here. About AIDS Walk Los Angeles:
The world’s first AIDS Walk was developed by Craig R. Miller in 1984, during the height of the AIDS epidemic. Seeing the need for immediate action in response to this public-health emergency, Miller sought to fill the void left by the government’s negligible response to the crisis. Drawing on his experience as a political and community organizer, Miller’s approach combined grassroots activism with fundraising and other campaign strategies to raise both awareness and urgently needed funds for the fight against AIDS. Miller brought his idea to the fledgling AIDS service organization, AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), who hired the young activist to produce this new event. Miller and APLA expected to draw a crowd of 1,000 supporters and raise $100,000 for this very first AIDS Walk. On July 28, 1985 in Los Angeles, 4,500 courageous and visionary people assembled at Paramount Studios and raised an astonishing $673,000. Since 1985, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has drawn over a half-million participants who have collectively raised more than $72 million for APLA. The event serves as a model of grassroots fundraising and community activism for organizations across the United States. For more information, visit http://www.aidswalk.net/.
