Good For Her Presents newly titled festival celebrating erotic films and expanding the definition of ‘sexy’

TORONTO, ON – Good for Her presents the Toronto International P*rn Festival running from April 20 to 23, 2017. The 4-day festival dedicated to adult film will empower, celebrate, and offer a platform to discover progressive and positive erotic films. From April 20 to 21 at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, The Film Fest will screen a sampling of 50+ films over 3 screenings, showcasing the best of the last 10 years and the best of 2016/17 from a variety of independent pornographic filmmakers, established talents and aspiring amateur pornographers.

“P*rn is everywhere and yet so private in how we view it. It also generally portrays a very narrow picture of who is sexy and what sex looks like. We started this festival because it publicly affirms a much broader experience of sex and offers a much more inclusive and diverse representation of bodies, pleasures, sexualities and desires.” Says festival producer, Carlyle Jansen. “People also feel conflicted about watching explicit material, worried that their consumption contributes to an industry that oppresses women in particular. The Festival offers multiple formal and informal opportunities to hear from performers themselves about what their work means to them and how consumers can support positive and empowering sex work environments for folks of all genders.”

The Festival is proud to host Digital Play X, an immersive virtual reality p*rn experience surrounded by a diversity of sexy classic shorts from the Toronto International P*rn Festival, on April 22.  Audiences and Festival attendees are encouraged to engage with VR P*rn. Two free panels, Social VR & Online Dating: Who’s Fu*king Anyway which will explore the changing landscape of relationships and sex in the social digital age, and unpacks myths and assumptions about technology. In addition to Class in Session: Are Sex Workers and P*rn Producers the New Educators? Is sex education through erotic films empowering or problematic? with special guests performer and filmmaker Jiz Lee and legendary pornographic filmmaker Shine Louise Houston.

The P*rn Fest will close out the festival at the historic Great Hall with a sexy gala like no other on the evening of April 23. Performers, directors, producers and fans dress in their sexiest best and mingle together as they savor short clips of the year’s most impressive award-winning films. Stimulating live entertainment is interspersed between the awards and the night is capped off with a celebratory dance party.
