Amanda Hess to be Keynote Speaker at Raliance Media Summit

RALLY Awards Finalists Announced.

PETERSBURG, FL – Newsroom journalists are invited to attend the Summit: Changing the landscape: A dialogue with journalists reporting on sexual violence scheduled for May 9 at the Kaiser Family Foundation in Washington D.C.  Registration is required to attend this free event. Hess has frequently addressed the issue of rape and sexual assault on college campuses and in the popular media through her work at Slate, The Washington City Paper, ESPN Magazine, Elle and Pacific Standard. Hess currently covers media for the New York Times.

Her speech will be titled The Stories We Tell and The Stories We Don’t Tell.

Hess is joined at the daylong event by an array of speakers including Scott Clement and Nick Anderson authors of the award-winning Washington Post Sexual Assault on Campus series, and Bianca DiJulio, a researcher from the Kaiser Family Foundation, which funded that study.

The Berkeley Media Studies Group will discuss findings of an extensive content study that examines how the media covers sexual assault.

The winners of the first-ever RALLY Awards will also be announced at the media summit. The awards honor journalistic excellence in covering sexual violence. The finalists are listed below:
