ST GEORGE, UT – Squatty Potty CEO, Robert Edwards, received the Excellence in Advocacy Award during Equality Utah’s 7th Annual Equality Celebration – Don’t Stop Believing. The gala was held under the red rock at the Kayenta Art Village in Ivins, Utah.
A St. George, Utah native, Edwards came out to his parents at the young age of 17. Being raised in a deeply conservative religious household, in a small town, Edwards moved to Salt Lake City in hopes of finding refuge and support. It was there he found many proud, out, and happy role models who gave him hope and inspiration. Edwards decided then that he would live his life to be a positive influence for those like himself, looking for a place to belong and contribute to this world.
“Bobby is an incredible asset to the southern Utah community. His work has helped shape the lives of LGBTQ youth and teens. We’re proud to give him this award,” said Troy Williams, Equality Utah Executive Director.
Not only has Edwards helped countless colons across the globe, he has improved his own community. Edwards was a founding board member of the Kayenta Arts Foundation. He served for a short time on the Equality Utah board, including as a founding committee member of the southern Utah annual Equality Celebration fundraising gala for Equality Utah.
Edwards and his husband Jason co-parent four children. In his downtime, Edwards enjoys traveling and exploring the many red rock canyons that abound in southern Utah.
