Stores to give away more than 100,000 free condoms to help raise awareness and prevention
AUBURN, WA – Peekay Boutiques, Inc., a leading specialty retail chain of sexual wellness products, announced today the launch of its nationwide new campaign “We’ve Got You Covered” bringing awareness, education and prevention against rising rates of STDs in recent years. Customers who visit any of the 46 Peekay Boutiques family of brands, including Lovers, Christal’s, A Touch of Romance, or ConRev stores across the country beginning June 19 will receive a free condom just for coming into the store.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) research released on October 19, 2016, nearly 20 million new sexually transmitted infections occur every year in the United States, half among young people aged 15–24. Reported cases of primary and secondary syphilis rose by 19%, gonorrhea cases rose by 12.8%, and chlamydia cases rose by 5.9%, from 2014. The consistent and correct use of male latex condoms can reduce (though not eliminate) the risk of STD transmission.
