Woodhull Welcomes New Board Members

Human rights organization Woodhull Freedom Foundation is pleased to announce the election of three new board members, Kate D’Adamo, Justyn Hintze, and Lisbeth Melendez-Rivera to their Board of Directors, as well as the slate of officers and board members for 2018.

This is a challenging time in the history of our country and I can’t think of a better group of people than our board members to stand with me and with Woodhull as we work to ensure a better future.” said Woodhull President & CEO Ricci Levy. “Justyn, Kate and Lisbeth, long-time friends of Woodhull, embody the vision and values of Woodhull and bring talent, expertise and energy to the table.

Kate D’Adamo is a long-time sex worker rights advocate with a focus on economic justice, anti-policing, incarceration and public health. Her work as a community organizer and consultant focus on addressing current sociopolitical issues related the ways in which identity and labor interact with poor public health and social injustice.

Justyn Hintze is a sexologist and educator, with an MEd in Human Sexuality Education from Widener University. As Senior Strategist at Rad Campaign, Director of Women Who Tech, and Board Member for the Center for Sexual Pleasure and Health, Justyn brings extensive knowledge of sexual health, curriculum writing, funding women-led startups, and marketing and outreach in grassroots movements to mobilize communities.

Lisbeth Melendez-Rivera is a 30+ years veteran of the progressive movement. An award-winning advocate, documentarian, and speaker, Lisbeth’s life-long work at the intersection of Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities represents the bridging of identities and movements.

The 2018-2019 Woodhull Freedom Foundation Board of Directors are: Ted Bernhardt, Kate D’Adamo, Hardy Haberman, Nina Hartley, Justyn Hintze, Lisbeth Melendez-Rivera, Monica Simpson and Carmen Vázquez. Our officers are: Hardy Haberman and Carmen Vázquez, Co-Chairpersons; Kate D’Adamo, Treasurer; and Justyn Hintze, Secretary.

Founded in 2003, The Woodhull Freedom Foundation is the only national organization working full time at the intersection of sexual and human rights. The Foundation works in partnership with activists, advocacy organizations, and coalitions across the United States. Through their Sexual Freedom Summit and Town Halls, Woodhull creates space to have the vital conversations concerning our civil liberties, personal autonomy, and sexual freedoms, bringing people together from various issues, identities and communities.
